Voyage Home Loans has partnered with Angelwish, an international non- profit organization that empowers busy people to grant the wishes of children infected and/or affected with HIV/AIDS. As part of Voyage’s new Social Good Directive that was launched Jan. 1 through Facebook, the company wants to increase local, regional and global Social Good awareness throughout 2010.
Voyage hopes to attract 500,000 new fans to their Facebook page as they document their experience working with Angelwish on a wish granting event in early March. The event will supply Angelwish children and their families with toys and donations from the funds Voyage employees contributed and the company matched. Fans and followers are encouraged to document their own endeavors on the fan page also.
"Angelwish is excited to be partnering with Voyage Home Loans," said Shimmy Mehta, founder/ceo of Angelwish. "In such a challenging time, it is nice to have the support of a company that thinks beyond their bottom line and truly embraces the concept of doing social good in the world, particularly for the families and children living with HIV/AIDS."
Throughout January and February, Voyage and Angelwish will work together to coordinate a 100-word essay contest for Sacramento elementary school children, where they will be asked to, "describe the perfect day for you and a sick friend. What would you do? Where would you go?" The winning essay writer, and their classroom, will shop for gifts to donate to the Angelwish children.
Voyage said they were inspired by Angelwish’s mission to help give sick children and their families an opportunity to celebrate childhood through holiday and birthday gifts, and felt that it was the perfect organization to work with at the start of the company’s new journey.
"The lending business has been hit hard over the last couple of years, and with all the revelations of bad lenders and faulty loans, we really wanted to start a social good outreach and earn the trust of our community," said Paul Ueckert, president of Voyage Home Loans. "We are excited to work with Angelwish to grant the wishes of children dealing with HIV/AIDS, and hope to spark a fire of hope that will spread as far as it can. We believe in Angelwish’s philosophy, and hope to work with them on various endeavors for years to come."
About Angelwish
Angelwish, a nonprofit organization dedicated to brightening the lives of children with HIV/AIDS, plays a vital role in allowing children to experience childhood. Founded in 1999, Angelwish works with more than 130 HIV/AIDS care centers around the world and harnesses the power of online donations to provide gifts to children. In doing so, Angelwish makes it efficient and effective for a donor to help a child and their family in need. Unlike other methods of donating, 100% of an individual donation made to Angelwish goes directly to the child with HIV or AIDS waiting for a gift.
