Voyage Financial Group, Inc. has earned an A+ Employers Award from the Sacramento Business Journal for being a top employer to work for in Sacramento, in the small business category. They received the honor at the fourth annual event luncheon Thursday, at the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento.

The 2009 A+ Employers/Employees’ Choice Awards honors the top employers in Sacramento based on anonymous staff survey results conducted by an independent firm, Quantum Workplace. The winners are selected from the tabulated rankings of the employee’s surveys, and were asked to assess their company and rank them on a scale ranging from 1 (strongly agree) to 6 (strongly disagree) in areas such as, team effectiveness, retention risk, alignment with goals, individual contribution, and manager effectiveness.

Voyage Financial Group was formed from a merger of two smaller businesses in 2007, and today has 50 employees, and several branches. The company said it works hard, plays hard, and encourages their employees to bring their ideas to the table, which they believe promotes a collective participation in the growth and building of the company. The company and employees are also deeply involved in community and charity outreach, locally and nationally, and are the first Green mortgage company in Sacramento.

"Employees are the true heart of every great company," said Paul Ueckert, President of Voyage Financial Group. "A company’s success should be measured by its employees’ enthusiasm about their job. They shape the future of our company."

The company has ridden a tumultuous wave throughout the past couple of years, as the recession took hold of the economy and the housing market crumbled. They said they could not have been successful throughout the decline without the dedication and hard work of their employees.

"We are so fortunate to have engaged team members that work hard to keep this organization going, especially during these turbulent economic times," said Josh Harmatz, CEO of Voyage Financial Group. "Being recognized as an outstanding employer by our staff is the highest compliment we could receive. We are truly honored."
